Vanilla in hummingbird sugar water

I read on Pet Research about adding a very small amount of vanilla to home prepared hummingbird water. I tried it and it's been a success with the birds. Has anyone else used vanilla or any other flavor? What have you used and what were your outcomes?

Oh yes, they love the vanilla! We've also had good luck using the almond extract in the food. Speaking of which, we just saw our first hummingbird of the year yesterday! :)

How much vanilla or almond would you add per cup? I have a neighbor that does the vanilla and the hummers fight over the feeders

She uses vanilla. According to the site that I saw in my reply, I used 5 drops per 4 cups of sugar water and they seem to like it just fine.
