Triggerfish are a very aggressive species of fish and the Clown Triggerfish is on top of the aggressive scale.  Extreme care must be taken when picking tank mates that will co-exist with this fish.  Be sure to pick other aggressive and like sized fish when trying to find compatible tank mates.  Clown Triggerfish will rearrange the rockwork and substrate so beware of the possibility of rock slides which can result in damaging a tanks glass sides.  Triggerfish are not at all reef safe and should be only kept in fish only systems.

Triggerfish need a variety of meaty foods as their natural diet mainly consists of shellfish and other invertebrates.  Be sure to offer a range of foods including but not limited to shrimp, clams, and other shellfish.  Shellfish with the shell intact are great as it helps to wear down the triggers ever growing teeth.  It’s also fun to watch them break the shells to get to the meat inside.
