Temperament / Behavior:

Often referred to as a “gentle giant”, Great Danes are extremely kind, sweet spirited, friendly and affectionate.  They are great with children and are very loyal to their owners.  Great Danes are very intelligent and, due to their size, very strong.  Danes don’t bark very much, however they should go through obedience classes to that you can manage them when they are full grown.

Great Danes are generally well-disposed toward other dogs, other non-canine pets and humans. Some may chase or attack small animals, though this is not typical behavior of the breed.

Activity:
Great Danes should have a large yard for exercise or needs to be walked daily.  Danes are not extremely active while indoors, but need appropriate room to run and play.
