Post Aging a mouse?

We just got two new beautiful little girls named Wawa and Pipi. They're really quite small, but not quite babies who seem to have bigger heads than bodies :P

I was wondering if there is a good way to figure out the age of a mousey other than just 'knowing'?

The "bigger heads than bodies" is a good clue in many animals that it's just a lil pip. :)

How's that for accurate? LOL

Oh, and if they look like they haven't grown into their ears yet, that's another indicator, but less so in mice because of their giant bat ears.

Oh and feet - they need to grow into their feet! LOL You can go roughly on size and weight but I don't know enough about mice to make a guess.

Their ears are huge, their heads are just a little over 1/3 the size of their bodies, and their bodies are like little balls of soft fur with long tails, huge ears and etc.

I know they're babies, just curious how many week(ish)...I guess I might call the petshop and see if they have mousies left of that age group. ^_^

I would just like to know for myself, y'know?

If you can get scales, it's possible take a guess. Full grown mice (unless they're potatoes like Kate's LOL) are around 30-35g. So as you can see, you'd need very sensitive scales to measure the difference. Otherwise the store might be able to tell you if they know the age of the litter.

Well, if the mice were being sold as pets they are usually taken in by the petstores at about 3-4 weeks of age. Mice are technically weaned by 3 weeks, so most petstore breeders will bring them in at that time. Rough estimation for your mice would be about 4 weeks old. wink
