 Any experience with keeping boymice (brothers) together? |

Sooo...I've fallen in love with rat_hammie_lover05's little boy meece, but I need some advice guys. I can reasonably take care of two little boys, however, how do mouse brothers generally do together? I can certainly handle it if they need to be separated at some point, but I don't want either of them to get hurt or anything. So...experience? advice? What can you all tell me?
BTW, for anyone who is concerned, I have girlmice and have for over two years now (my current girls are approaching their second birthdays!), so I'm familiar with their care. I've just never had boys and don't want anything bad to happen without being *sure* they'll be okay together. I AM willing to just get one of them, I'd just like to give two of them homes if I can

Littermates and boys being raised together *usually* tend to get along fine. All but one of my boy mice share a cage, and he's the only one I've ever had any problems with. It really just depends on the mice involved: some get along great, just as many don't. The rule of thumb if you're worried though is to get littermates. With them you're unlikely to go wrong...I've never had brothers who couldn't be kept together, but that's just my experience.

So getting two brothers and keeping them in a nice sized cage should be okay? I'll make sure I'm prepared to separate them should the need arise, but I'd love a pair of boys

Yeah, that should be perfectly fine, especially if the cage is large and they have lots of hidey places, offering sufficient opportunity for them to get away from each other should they feel the need.
Two brothers should do well.
