Be careful what you wish for... |

or you might get it
Ever since we "acquired" little wild Charlie I have been wishing he was less scared of us, so that he didn't run and hide in his nest whenever we went near his tank. Well, this wish seems to be coming true. He even comes out to look now if he hears us. This is great, but I have discovered a downside. Before, when I needed to clean his tank, he would run into one of his nests when he saw me and I could just pick up the whole nest, with my hands over the exits, and put it in the little plastic tank while I cleaned his big tank. Now, he is confident enough not to run into his nest, but he is still far too terrified to allow me to pick him up. When I put my hands into his tank he tears around like a demented thing and jumps amazing heights, looking like a tiny kangaroo. I have to wait until he eventually decides to go into one of his little houses before I can move him.
Still, it is fun to be able to watch him exploring his mouse palace now

He sounds so cute though! I would not have had the guts to put my hands over his exits, for fear that he would panic in the dark and shred them to pieces! But maybe I have an unnatural fear of adorable little creatures because of Bunn.

He hasn't made any effort to bite - YET. I would imagine he could do some real damage with those teeth, as he has gnawed a big hole in his coconut shell nest.
To be honest, I'm more scared of him getting loose than I am of him shredding my hands, because I can't see how we would ever catch him again if he was running loose about the house. I used to think baby rats were quick!
