Circus Mousimus |

Yoli was on the wheel tonight!!!
I've been up all night again due to having slept all day after being ill (but am better now and Nitram will wake me earlier tomorow to get me back on track), so have been watching the mouse circus.
Thimble literally threw Crazy off the wheel, LOL. Crazy was wheeling and Thimble came along and jumped on. Thing is, they routinely run in opposite directions (Crazy keeps her right side to the hub, Thimble the left), and when Thimble jumped on and started up, s/he throws so much more torque into it that Crazy went zzzzzzzzzooooff!, thrown out by centrifugal force -- from somewhere near the top! She did an arc partway across the cage and somehow landed mostly right side up, but with a solid thwap. I saw immediately that she was fine, so I indulged in rolling about on the floor laughing my ass off.
Then, later, I heard a commotion, went in and saw all three out and popcorning all over the place. Then Yoli went up the ramp and got on the wheel (she dresses right, too), and sort of feebly got it going. I cheered! That seemed to inspire her and she almost got it up to Crazy speed, but not quite. I was so proud of her! Then Thimble came back and leapt on, and I hollered, "Look out, Yoli!" (Notice how I wasn't too worried about Crazy, who can hold her own, but Yoli is such a gentle little thing.) But Yoli just happened to step off as Thimble got on, so *whew*.
Also, Thimble let me feed her a piece of baked potato-and-sour cream encrusted broccoli, right in the cage, not just through the bars! and Yoli got a big lick of the same off my finger, for several minutes at least, without running away. Crazy, of course, just freaked out cos my hand was in the cage, and stared worriedly at me from behind the tree stump house.

I am amazed that they don't get thrown off more often. They must be extremely coordinanted to be able to jump on without missing a step when someone else has the wheel spinning at full speed. I'm lucky if I can walk across a room without tripping on my own two feet.

I think the most amazing thing is that your "wild" mouse seems to be much tamer than your domestic mouse, Kate.
But I wish I'd been there to see Crazy forced off the wheel!
