Fido, the Amazing Rat!!!!

I was browsing in the library today and I came across the beloved book of Ripleys Believe It of Not! and decided to check it out, being that I love oddeties as much as the next person... I was flipping through the section on Animals when I came across this...

"Fido the rat was sleeping peacefully when he was awakened by the smell of smoke. He broke out of his cage, and instead of running out of the house to saftey, he scampered throuh flames and up the stairs to the second floor where Lisa Gumbley and her daughters, nine-year-old Megan and three-year-old Shannon, were sleeping. He scratched and scratched at their door, refusing to leave until they awoke. Happily, the family escaped without injury, but if it hadnt been for thier brave little pet, other and daughters surely would have perished in the fire."

And below that, they show a picture of a black self rat with two white front paws.
I really thought that was a neat story, but I cant help to think if its actually true...Hmm. But, I know rats are very smart, and love thier owners. Just a nice heart warming story for the day.

Im sure the story is true....smile

One of my ratties was having an asthma attack and managed to get out of her cage and came into our room and woke me up so i could help her....

so why not...

yes they are very smart when they want to be....smile

I believe it. my rat satrted to break out of his cage to sleep with me the few days before he passed away.
