Post Flame's wee ones.

Flame had her litter on the seventh, but I've been so busy working on my site I'm only just now getting around to announcing it.

She had 16, which was apparently too many, because the next morning there were 12 left and no others have been lost since.

So without further ado, piccies!

Brand new:

Eight days old:

There are seven girls and five boys. First, the ladies:

It looks like there's an orange broken marked, a fawn brindle broken marked, two red brindles with headspots (both have AWESOME brindling,)
One blazed fawn brindle, and two mystery babies! As far as I know, neither parent carries black, blue, silver, etc, but one baby is showing up as either black or blue marked with very small amounts of red brindling on her sides. Is she just so heavily brindled that the stripes cover the red? Confused
There is also one who is very lightly marked with barely visible blue/black/silver spots, so this may be something hidden that hasn't shown up before.

Anyway, on to the boys:

There's one broken marked fawn brindle, one orange broken marked, a blazed red brindle (again, awesome brindling) a GORGEOUS orange blazed, and one I'm not sure about. He's *probably* some kind of dilute, but I'm not sure yet. We'll see.

So those are my new babies. I didn't have good lighting when I took the pics, so the colors may be a bit off, also.

Post RE: Flame

Well, in the last picture of the girls I'll take the first girl on the left and the last three on the right. Or heck I could just take everyone, you know you want to come up to IL. Mr. Green

Mr. Green I wish I could. Finding homes for mice is even harder than finding homes for rats in Georgia. I'll probably end up keeping most of these.

Wow - interesting colors/markings from this litter (and the last one!).

Yeah, some mothers cannot handle more than 12 babies - so it could have been Mom who made them disappear. It also could have been that the 4 didn't get to feed, and would not have made it anyway (lacking survival instinct). So, it happens sometimes...but that's okay. The remaining 12 look very well fed (look at those full milk tummies!!) and are doing well!

That one dark one looks to be either a black or diluted black - perhaps the brindle is washing it out some. It is a bit hard to tell for sure from the pics...but that is my guess.

I don't breed for brindle, so I am not sure about the color rules with it. Just know that it is dominant, and can show up on a number of colors.

Watch out with the orange babies - Shaz will be along soon for them, no doubt! wink

Yeah, I was pretty sure they were unable to compete for food and Flame just "took care of them."
Sad, but probably for the best.

The "black's" color is more visible now, and now I'm going to go with her being a dilute fawn brindle, with just a LOT more brindling than she should have. The dilute fawn is intermingling *just* a bit with the black, and the black brindles towards her sides into the dilute fawn again. Her belly and head are white, and her eyes are black. So yes, I'm pretty sure she's just a diluted "brindle gone wrong," (but pretty nonetheless!)

And these oranges are so beautiful! Until I got some in these last two litters, I had never seen one in person, but I'm falling in love with the color. Maybe I'll start an orange line with the orange blazed boy from this litter and one of the orange broken marked girls. Haven't decided yet...I'll have to think about it a bit first. Mr. Green

SHHHH... I have a baby head ache from looking at all of those beautifuly marked mice...I love brindles...but I love my orange, chocolate, and 14k gold line....ok and Oreo he is the only black banded male I have...and never bred. I cant believe its harder for you to find homes for mice down there....its just the opposite here, I have people calling me all the time because they saw so and so that has so and so colored mouse and want one...I have reservations for my litters its become that insane...of course all breeding is now backed up and put off while I work on my rat rescue...and the katrina disaster. Dont worry chicago crew you will get you chocolate red eyed mice..lol it might take till may though. Shaz

oh yeah forgot to say...my chocolates have red eyes...so its possible for a dark to have them.. they came from a solid red gene though...then worked with. none of my babies have black eyes, its a pure strain now 100 percent. Shaz

You are so lucky. I'm lucky if I get one or two inquiries for a given litter, mouse OR rat. That's why I only get to do a couple of litters a year, as I usually end up keeping most of the babies. I don't really mind, I guess, it means more cuties for me, but being able to place more babies owuld mean I could have more litters and reach my goals faster. :P

They turned two weeks yesterday, so heres some recent pics. Most of them have eyes now, but they weren't being terribly nice about showing them.

Also, photographing popcorny baby mice is near impossible. Sorry for the mediocre quality. :P

There is an orange blazed male who looks much like the little pumpkin I'm saving for you, and a wonderful orange broken marked girl. I'm thinking about taking them and starting an orange line from them.

The black broken marked is actually a brindle! She's quite a bit lighter in person, and she's sort of like a reverse brindle...instead of being fawn with black brindling, she's black with fawn brindling! She's also a dilute, so her black is more greyish, and her fawn more of a beige. I wish I could get a better pic of her!

I would like to keep her though, She's so unsuaul, I want to see how she's going to look all grown up. Mr. Green
