Post recognize this cage?

I ran across this picture on petfinder.org (Milwaukee Humane Society has several cute rats if anyone is close) and the cage the baby is in is one that I use to sell when I worked for a pet shop more than ten years ago. There were several sizes, some with, some without balconies, but most were very roomy (up to 42" long, 36" high if I remember) and were reasonbably priced. They had brown side wire that was probably 5/8" square and a beige metal base and 1/2" beige wire balconies. At the time they were made/sold by Superpet International (I assembled so many I definately remember that box!), but the SI web didn't show them in their current product line so I wonder if that division has been sold off, or if the cage is still made at all. I liked it's clean lines, simplicity, with a bit more "finished" look than the Martin type cages.
Sorry the pic isn't that good of the cage itself, but hopefully good enough someone might know who currently makes/sells it. if not, its still a good baby rat pic! Thanks.

I know which cage you're talking about...I have my rats in one right now! Mr. Green It has a metal catch tray, a side door on the bottom floor and and the entire top cage opens. There is a ramp to the second floor and a ramp to a short balcony.

I got this used Super Pet cage from the humane society near me when I adopted a rat there. I asked if I could get the cage with the rat and they let me buy it! I really like this cage, too, but I think they don't make them anymore, you have to find the older ones out there!

If you live in/near Milwaukee and adopt a rat at the Wisconsin Humane Society, you could ask if they would sell you the cage too...they might!

It looks like a terenziani or critter type cage i think - is the pic below roughly the same?

That's a critter 2 (terenziani michelangelo is roughly the same with a grey base) - i've added the top door myself, but the bottom right door is as original and the top lifts open complete.

Yes, that sure looks like the cage. The maunufaturer must have sold off or split up from Super Pet. Does anyone know if terenziani is available in the U.S.?
For that matter, Estelle, what are your thoughts on the cage since you are using it for rats. Pros and cons?

BTW, I'm in central Illinois, soo too far away to rescue the baby in the original picture.
Thanks.

Go to Petsmart, and you can find them, PetCo may also have them, but I like Petsmart better, at least the one around here...

That's my cage! I got it at the Pet Club. It is manufactured by Terenziani, that chi-chi Italian manufacturer.

I like them, i find them fairly easy to clean and the convenience of being able to dismantle and flat pack them is good as well. I think the only think i dislike about them is that the base is too shallow and bedding tends to come out quite easily. The other thing with these cages is dependant on who made them and the quality, they can rust badly in the base and on the wires. The original 'true' Terenziani's were excellent, many of the copies are poor and even in recent times original Terenziani's haven't been as good as they used to be. I still get about 3 years of heavy use out of one of the fakes though so not too bad.

I've got one original, that someone I know used for 3 years, and I've now had it 1 year and it's just beginning to show slight signs of rust.

I have several fakes, which I've been using for about 2 years. Some of the bases are rusting and I repainted some of them with tough Hammerite paint - it's pretty rust resistant now, but the wire is beginning to go, so I'll be looking at replacing them next year. I notice there's a powder coating place not too far from us, so may look at getting the new ones coated, when I get them and hopefully they'll last better.

I quite like them, the rats seem to too, but I find them a bit heavy to carry to the shower to rinse the bars, although the bases are fairly easy to clean. The ladders and floors really need to be attached with wire or cable ties, I've heard of 2 rats who got trapped and injured by loose floors in cages. They're good for chewers and I have a couple of particularly destructive rats who I can't really keep in other types of cages.
