Where/how do you keep you're rats ?

I have a big cage 30 by 18 by 17 inches , that I keep on top of some kitchencounters on one side of my kitchen . May not seem very hygienic , but it's the only rat proof place where i can keep them and keep their cage open at all times . Inside the cage there's a plastic iglo , a hamper , some plastic cat toys, food bowl and drinkwater dispenser. Outside of the cage there's another iglo for them .
Im really thinking about getting another cage & some more ratbabies lurve

but where would I leave the cage ?? If I ever get to live bigger im getting a seperate rat room :mrgreen: with all the cages & toys & everything that makes a rat happy Rainbow Smiley

my whole house is ratproof, its a unit, so their cage is in the lounge room near the window and they generally have free range of the whole house

except at night, coz they come and groom my mouth :/

ive got my cage on the floor of the bedroom (out of the way of foot traffic of course..)
it works out well because i give them lots of free time to play on the floor (and its the only room im positive is ratproofed) and they have access back into their cage whenever they want

The big cage is in the back bedroom. I have to walk past it to get downstairs, so the boys look forward to mommy going by and giving scritches. Simon and Trevor are in that one, all the time, but sometimes Sean is with them, or Sebastian. It depends on who Sasha wants to sleep with in the other cage, downstairs.

my rats are currently in the smaller two level cage I've got. can't keep them in the enormous four level ferret cage yet cause Meep! can get through the bars and rampage the house. They're currently in the storage room but I'm pleading with the boyfriend to let us have them in the living room or the computer room.

My rats are in various large cages in a room of their own, except for two recently rescued boys who're in the living room at the moment.

My rats have their own room too. They generously allow me to keep my computer in there.

My rats don't allow me to keep anything but rat stuff in there. The computer is banished to a chew-free place.

My cage is in a room labeled "dining room" on the floor plan, but it's really a computer room/rat room/fish room... and oh yeah, the kitchen table is in there, too. wink

computer in my bedroom too, but when ever i am on the comp they are on the desk playing away!

Mine have taken over the front living room. I have a 5' long table with 2 Martin's R695's sitting side by side on it. Then at playtime I just put up the baby gates and let them have at it. Since we "live" in the back den there is no tv or anything but a couch & end tables with lamps with wires in the front room and the wires are covered to keep the rats from chewing them. The room has 2 windows that are low to the gound and the ratties like to sit in the window sill and look out. Works out pretty good.

I have an ituresting cage, and you can find an old pic of it in the cage gallery (It's been updated sense then) and it is in my messy bedroom.
