I keep various things in my girls' cage. I have an igloo, a couple of houses, toilet paper rolls, and they seem to enjoy bird toys or things that dangle that they can swat at. And of course I have many wood blocks to keep their mouths busy! :P

Other popular toys are kleenex boxes, wodent wheels, plastic hanging baskets, roll-a-nests, chinchilla dust bath houses, hammocks and plenty of rattie blankets.

The occational whole hard boiled egg, a whole orange with a hole poked in it (for girls only). Almonds and walnuts in thier shells, crab leg shells with tiny bits left in, exspecialy the claws!

Hanging tunnels made of old jean legs, cat toys like stuffed mice and balls, shredded newpaper stuffed in a corner(big one for my girls! they take it one piece at a time all the way up to the top!) Cotton balls rubbed on a different rattie (but a healthy one! I sometimes rub my boys and give them to my girls and they stash them and carry them all over!).

ENJOY!

Now that I have to try!! Mr. Green Whenever I handle my girls, and then go to pet the boys, they grab at my fingers, and sniff my hands all over, practically dragging me into the cage. They just love that wonderful, female aroma! :)

Mine love anything with catnip in. The little toy mice are great - they're cheap to buy, but they do get shredded within a couple of days. Old wine corks are great to chew up.
If you haven't already, try leaving some toilet paper on the rolls when you give them to your rats - they have lots of fun unravelling it. I sometimes unwind the end of a roll, and wind it back up with treats between the layers - like ratty pass-the-parcel.
Also, you can put some treats inside an empty toilet roll, pinch both ends shut, and hang it from the roof of the cage. They'll have a great time working out how to get at those treats.
I got my boys a tray of wheatgrass (from a health-food shop) last summer, and they liked to play in it and dig up the grass. I found some cat grass in the pet shop which looked similar. Just make sure that if you give them grass, it hasn't got any fertiliser or pesticides on it - grow it yourself on a windowsill for them.
Have fun! I'm sure your ratties will too
