We're back...

Chicago was nice, but all poor Lefty picked up was a cold. As she traveled with her cage wrapped in a blanket in a duffel bag and the car was warm, I think it was just coincidence or something she was incubating from the pet shop. I thought I noticed a slight wheeze Saturday afternoon, but by the middle of the night it was a rattle. I gave her some OJ (only thing I could think of at 2 am) which she drank. There was a Petco a few blocks away so Sunday I picked up an over the counter remedy and either that or the OJ seemed to have helped. There was no respiratory noise this morning and by this afternoon she was playing on her wheel. Hope that's the end of it.

I've noticed that rats often get sneezy when traveling, no matter how good the environment is. I bet she's glad to be back home.

So does she get the wheel to actually go round?

Yes, she can get the wheel to go, but I wouldn't call it running. It is more of a stop and go walk, but she likes it just the same. Although she doesn't have any real difficulty getting around, she is slow just the same; not at all like the others. I think she's just a "special" child. I don't know how may times I've accidentally left her cage lid off when I've left the room and she's never left (or noticed?) You can help but love her.
